Quick Troubleshooting
The finder arrow isn't appearing
- Check that Bluetooth is on in your phone's system settings.
- Open the Flock app, go to Settings → confirm Location sharing is enabled.
- Walk around for 5–10 seconds. The arrow locks in once we've got a gradient to work with.
- If still stuck, fully close and re-open the app.
My friend doesn't appear in my flock
- Make sure you're both in the same flock — check the Home tab.
- Both of you need Flock open at least once to show up. After that, it works in the background.
- On iPhone, check Settings → Flock → Bluetooth is on, and Location is set to "While Using" or "Always".
- On Android, check battery optimisation — Android sometimes kills background BLE. Set Flock to "Unrestricted" in battery settings.
Distance seems wrong
Bluetooth distance is an estimate based on signal strength. Walls, bodies, and metal structures affect it. Flock learns and self-calibrates within ~30 seconds of walking. If you have an iPhone 11 or newer on both ends, UWB kicks in at close range and gets to ~10cm accuracy.
Background finding stops when I lock my phone
Flock is designed to keep finding in the background, but iOS and Android can aggressively throttle BLE to save battery. For best results during a festival:
- iOS: Settings → Flock → Background App Refresh → On.
- Android: Settings → Apps → Flock → Battery → Unrestricted.
- Keep the app opened at least once every hour or two.
Notifications aren't showing up
- Check Flock's notification permissions in your phone's system settings.
- In the app, go to Settings → Notifications — make sure flares, SOS, and chat alerts are enabled.
- iOS: check Focus mode isn't silencing Flock.
I want to delete my account
Open the app → Settings → Delete account. Your account and all data tied to it are removed within 30 days. You can also email privacy@flock-app.app if you can't access the app.
